In a complaint filed in Boone County Magistrate Court, Deputy Eric Eversole said he was called to a home at 132 Bradshaw Branch in Ashford, the home of Cecil Wayne Dunfey, 41. Boone County 911 had received a domestic violence call from the home. Deputy Eversole said he spoke with Dunfey’s son, Cecil Dunfey, Jr., who said his father had pulled a knife on him, then hit him in the leg with a pipe of some sort. A witness also alleged that Dunfey did in fact attack his son.
Eversole then arrested the man on charges of domestic battery. A criminal background check showed that Dunfey Sr was arrested and convicted on domestic battery charges on two previous occasions. That makes his third arrest a felony arrest, for which he may be indicted before the Boone County Grand Jury. He was arraigned before Magistrate Charles Byrnside where the magistrate set a $10,000 bond. Dunfey was released on bond late Monday afternoon. If indicted and convicted, he faces a prison sentence of 1-5 years, along with a $2,500 fine.
