He was born February 20, 1922 in Tucker County, WV and was a son of the late Benjamin E. and Catherine Harper Cooper. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Cooper; son, Jerry Franklin Cooper; brother, Harding Cooper; and sister, Tiny Beatrice Cooper.
He was a small engine mechanic for T & R in Danville with 20 years of service. He was a 35 year retired Fire Chief of the Danville Fire Department with 45 years of service. He was also a past member of the Civil Air Patrol and a member of Madison Church of Christ.
He is survived by one son and his wife, Joe and Cassandra Cooper of Danville; two daughters and their husbands, Susan and Timothy Bratcher of Orange City, FL and Joy and Richard Cline of Pt. Pleasant, WV; two brothers, Eston Cooper, Jr. of Chilicothe, OH and Kenneth Cooper of Aurora, WV; three sisters, Marie Matheny of Dayton, OH, Lois Davis of Roanoke, VA and Marilee Huntley of Albequerque, NM; four grandchildren, Lisa Thornton, Richard Shane Cline, Christopher Vandelinde and Matthew Cooper; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were April 21, 2007 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Ray Reynolds and John Steele officiating. Burial followed in Danville Memorial Park, Danville.
