In a complaint filed in Boone County Circuit Court last Wednesday, Lt. John Adams, of the Madison City Police Department arrested Westley Sean Berry, on burglary charges. In his complaint, Adams said Berry, age 20, of Madison, allegedly entered the home of Millard Steele, of Country Estates, and stole prescription drugs. His complaint said the victim’s wife discovered the drugs missing, and confronted Berry, who reportedly confessed to the crime in a statement.

Berry was arraigned before Magistrate Charles Byrnside, and confined to the Southwestern Regional Jail. He has since been released on bail. If indicted and convicted, Berry faces a prison sentence of between 1-10 years in state prison.

A dispute over a damaged car has resulted in the arrest of a 41 year old Alkol woman and her daughter on attempted daytime burglary charges.

In his complaint, Deputy Eddy Arthur said that Debra Kay Terry, 41, and her daughter Tira, travelled from Lincoln County to the Newport Road home of Tausha Spears, of Mitchell’s Trailer Park.

The report stated that on the previous evening of May 19, a vehicle belonging to Terry was at the Spears home and was vandalized by a third person.

On May 20, Terry and her daughter returned to the Spears home and “began yelling at her to get her to come outside and fight.”

When the victim refused to come out, the complaint alleges that Terry and her daughter attempted to kick in the front door of the Spears home, while the woman was holding an infant. According to the victim, the women were yelling at her, threatening to do her bodily harm “If they got ahold of her.” Arthur said Debra Terry told him in a statement that she was there to get money for a damaged vehicle.

The two women were arrested and charged with attempted daytime burglary, a felony. If convicted, they each face up to one year in state prison.
