The first June meeting of the council will be held next door, in the newly renovated former location of the Madison Volunteer Fire Department. The department moved into their location in the old Bonanza Steakhouse several years ago, but while the city had intentions of moving next door, the renovations didn’t begin until recently. In addition to council meetings, the offices will house the regular operations of the city, as well as the Madison Police Department.
The first meeting will be held on June 4 at 7:00 p.m., however, city offices will not complete their move next door until mid-June. Mayor Sonny Howell offered his thanks to Bobby Hale and his crew for what he called a “great job of renovation.”
Madison City Council meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. The new location is at 255 Washington Avenue, in Madison.
In other City of Madison news, the Jr. Haddad Recreation Center is open. It houses the Madison Pool, and is open to everyone, not only Madison residents. Admission is $3.00 at the gate, and pre-paid admission tickets can be purchased at city hall. Prices are 50 tickets for $75 and 25 tickets for $50. Last year’s pre-paid tickets will be honored.
