ROBINSON — For the second time this year, a Boone County teenager has died in an automobile accident.

The single-vehicle crash occurred on Saturday at 4 a.m. on W.Va. 85 in Robinson and involved Aaron Michael Neel, 16, of Quinland, according to a press release from Sheriff Rodney Miller.

Miller said Neel was traveling northbound in a 1997 Buick, which was registered to Michael Prince, of Uneeda.

Neel apparently lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway and struck a utility pole, according to the release. He was partially ejected from the vehicle and pronouned dead at the scene.

The Madison Volunteer Fire Department and Boone County Ambulance Authority responded to the accident.

Miller said there were no passengers in Neel's vehicle.

Boone County Sheriff’s Department investigators said they believe wet road conditions and speed were contributing factors in the crash, according to the release.

Miller said no criminal charges are expected to be filed in the incident. Neel, a Sissonville Middle School student who had no driver's license issued to him, apparently took the keys to the vehicle without permission and left his residence about 2 a.m.

Deputy E.C. Eversole will continue to investigate the crash.

According to his obituary, Neel is survived by his mother, Francis Bennett, of Quinland; his father, Charles Neel, of Wilson, N.C.; his maternal grandparents, Bobby and Sarah Bennett, of Madison; his paternal grandmother, Connie Turner, of Charleston; his paternal grandfather, Bobby Neel, of Florida; his sister, Amber Dawn Neel, of Quinland; his step-sister, Amanda Fellers, of Wilson, N.C.; and his step-brother, Tyler Mitchell, of Wilson, N.C.

Neel’s relatives couldn’t be reached for comment.

Ashley Dawn Green, 17, of Uneeda, was killed in April in a wreck that occurred on W.Va. 17.
