JAMES E. "TURK" BELCHER

JAMES E. "TURK" BELCHER, 67 of Hernshaw, WV went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 3, 2008 at the Hubbard House in Charleston after a long illness.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Emsy and Bessie Belcher and his first wife, Patricia K. "Patsy" Belcher after 33 years of marriage. James was retired from the mining industry after 25 years of service with Armco and Peabody Coal Company. He was a member of the Diamond Baptist Church in Belle, WV. He was also Emcee of the UMWA Labor Day celebration for 20 years. James is survived by his loving wife of eight years, Martha "Patchell" Belcher of Hernshaw; brother Bill Belcher of Seth, WV and sisters Betty Gordon and Shirley Belcher of Bloomingrose and Fostersville, WV, respectively. 'Two sons, Michael Belcher of Columbus, OH and Stephen Belcher of Peytona, WV; a daughter, Andrea Cooper of Cooperstown, WV and a step-daughter, Carissa McDowell of Fosterville, WV. James also enjoyed eight grandchildren, 3 great grandchilren and a host of nieces and nephews. Service was held Friday Morning, March 7, 2008, 11:00 A.M. in the Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, WV, with Chaplin Pete Thompson, officiating. Interment was in Pineview Cemetery, Orgas, WV

The family is asking in lieu of flowers, that you make a donation to Hospice Care, 1143 Dunbar Ave, Dunbar, WV 25067.
