According to a press release by the Madison Volunteer Fire Department, this event is sponsored by the City of Madison and participants claim that this year’s activities were a huge success. Volunteers included members of the Mayor’s Office, Madison Fire Department, Route 85 Massey Spousal Group, and the Independence Coal Engineering Environment Crew to name a few of this year’s participants.
This is the second stream clean up in the past year. Mayor Sonny Howell, Fire Chief Jim Lambert, and Claire Vaught of Route 85 Massey Spousal Group led the effort with 52 people participating in the four-hour event, which ended in a lunch for the volunteers at the Madison Fire Station.
According to the Madison Volunteer Fire Department, plans are underway for another Madison Stream Clean, tentatively scheduled for sometime in the last two weeks of September.
