Ronald Eck, LTAP program director and Anthony Ford, LTAP program coordinator, discussed city traffic issues during emergencies, daily operations and creating safe work zones for city street workers.
The LTAP Center was established to serve West Virginia’s municipalities by disseminating information on techniques for managing the roadway and street infrastructure.
The primary goal of LTAP is to translate state-of-the-art technologies in roads and bridges for use by local highway transportation and emergency personnel.
Through their training and information distribution, the WVLTAP Center is striving to help the state's municipalities get the most out of their limited highway budgets.
This meeting is part of an on-going project to address local transportation safety and management as well as part of a $2,000 grant for street and roadway signage and other traffic control devices that they City of Madison had received.
Taking part in the discussion were Mayor H.H. “Sonny” Howell, City Manager Roger Weaver, Town of Danville Manager Bill Cook, Chief of Police Chet Burgess, Chief of the Fire Dept Jim Lambert, Director of the Boone County Emergency Management Agency Greg Lay, as well as police officers and firefighters from Madison PD and Madison Fire Department.
A follow-up workshop is planned for later this summer.
