Boone County will be well-represented in the annual North-South softball game to held at Buffalo on June 19.

From Scott High School, catcher Kohle Maynard, shortstop Rachel Holstein, and pitcher Holly Turley have been selected to the squad while pitcher India Stone will represent Sherman High School in the senior classic.

Maynard, Holstein, and Turley led the Skyhawks to an AA runner-up finish, losing to Point Pleasant in the state championship game.  Maynard led the Hawks in hitting at a .405 clip that included seven homeruns.  Holstein had several game-winning hits during the season including the 2-out, 2-RBI single in the bottom of the seventh against Sherman for the Region IV crown.  Turley posted a 20-5 record on the mound.

Stone was also a 20-game winner with an ERA of 0.81 and she recorded 298 strike outs in 2008.

Festivities (including a homerun derby, fastest thrower overhand and underhand, etc.) will  begin at noon on Thursday, June 19.  The first game is scheduled for 3:00 pm with two additional games to follow.

The South squad will be coached by Kevin Bates (Logan) and Ronnie “Mule” Ooten (Chapmanville).
