On July 15, Sylvester residents were scheduled to receive calls testing the Wide Area Rapid Notification (WARN) System, an emergency notification service of the Boone County 911 Center.

Greg Lay, Director of the 911 Emergency Call Center said that WARN is a ring-down system that will call people when there is an emergency or message that needs to be distributed to a large number of people in a short amount of time, or with little notice.

The new notification system is being financially supported by the Boone County Health Department and the Boone County Commission.
