Tide needs consistency, Elkins says

The Sherman Tide remains winless after its 38-7 road loss to the Nicholas County Grizzlies on Friday.
The Tide’s defense allowed 322 total yards (201 rushing and 121 passing). Sherman's offense, on the other hand, managed only 146 total yards (69 rushing and 77 passing).

Tide junior quarterback Colby Treadway completed 8-of-21 passes for 77 yards with one touchdown and one interception against the Grizzlies (3-1). Treadway also carries 18 times for 52 yards.

Junior receiver Jacob Rollo had six catches for 41 yards and one score. Senior Jeff Elian made two receptions for 36 yards.

Sherman sophomore tailback Jake Halstead contributed 17 yards on 15 carries.
Treadway punted seven times for an average of 37.5 yards.
Junior Johnny Johnson led the Tide defense with six tackles and two assists. Junior Codie Santonio had five tackles, two assists and two interceptions.

Elian had four tackles and four assists. Senior Brandon Lovejoy had four tackles. Rollo contributed five tackles and four assists.

The Tide committed eight penalties for 70 yards.

“We showed improvement," Sherman coach Shann Elkins said. "Our kicking game was excellent. We just need to have consistency.”

Sherman (0-3) will visit Liberty Raleigh (3-1) on Friday for the Whitesville State Bank Bowl.
