The one-armed man charged in a Boone County murder has been denied pre-trial bond in circuit court. On July 4, 2008, sheriff’s deputies were called to the Camp Creek Road home of Richard “Timmy” Turner, 49. When law enforcement arrived, they allegedly found Matthew “Stevie” Miller 35, standing over his body. He is believed to have bludgeoned Turner to death with a piece of wood after an argument. That day, Sheriff Rodney Miller’s investigators charged him with murder.

This is not the defendant’s first brush with the law. Miller has a long history with law enforcement in Boone County. Court documents show he had been charged twice with domestic battery in the county, neither charge resulted in any significant jail time for the man.

Judge Will Thompson has denied Miller’s request for bond on two separate occasions this summer. Last week, the judge said he “saw no reason to allow Miller to be released on bond.” Miller’s attorney told the court that his family could provide a property bond in the amount of $250,000.

Miller’s trial date has yet to be set but could come before the end of the year.
