MacKenzie White has a lot of good friends. That was apparent last week with the outpouring of support for the Scott High student planning to represent the United States in the Goodwill Games. Last week, a group of friends and relatives continued their efforts to raise the $11,000 needed for the young woman to attend the event in Buenos Aires, Argentina. White will be playing on the USA Athletes International Basketball team at the event.

However, such a long trip costs money. White will be escorted by her mother, and they are responsible for their own travel expenses. So far, just over $2,000 has been raised for the trip.

Last week, White’s aunt and others got together at the offices of Madison Medical group to hold a bean dinner to raise money for the young woman’s trip. Dr. Ron Stollings and others filled bags with tens and twenties, and encouraged everyone to give in order to help White fullfill a dream. “We can make this work for MacKenzie, “ Stollings said. “She deserves it.”

When the trip commences, White, and her mother, Tara Jones, would begin their trip in Argentina with a briefing on Argentine laws and customs, a day or two for sightseeing and a three-hour basketball clinic on day four. The games will begin on day five.

If anyone wishes to help MacKenzie White and her mother experience the trip of a lifetime, it is easy to do. Just send any donations to:
