A Boone County man has been arrested and charged with murder, it has been reported.

John Hudson, 38, of Ashford, was arrested for the murder of a Kanawha County woman in Winefrede on Tuesday, January 31, 2012.

Police say Hudson was staying with 39-year-old Michelle Gillispie and her boyfriend at their home in Winifrede Hollow near Chesapeake in Kanawha County.

Police said sometime after Michelle's boyfriend left for work on Monday, Hudson shot Michelle in the head, robbed her home, took off in her car and left her for dead.

Hudson eventually turned himself into police claiming the shooting was an accident.

Kanawha County Sheriff's deputies report after the murder and robbery, Hudson tried to pawn items stolen from the victim's residence.

Hudson was in trouble with the law back in early 2000s. He spent time in federal prison for distribution of meth and was released in 2003, according to previously published reports.
