Rev. Henry Elbert Estep
The Rev. Henry Elbert Estep, 84, of Morrisvale went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston, after a long illness. He was a coalminer for 41 years and retired from Eastern Coal. He was a member of Maple Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He was a minister for 46 years and pastored numerous churches. He was a veteran of World War II, chaplain of Morrisvale Volunteer Fire Department and a Mason. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Jewell Estep; father and mother, Collie and Brookie Estep; brothers, Bobby, Basel, Leland, Collie Jr., and Harry; sisters, Mildred Collins and Eva Linville; and great-grandchildren, Shelby and Ryan Estep. Surviving are sons, Gary (Jo) Estep of Cedarville, Ohio, and Doug (Linda) Estep of Morrisvale; daughters, Diann (Junior) McClure, Mitzi (Rick) Adkins and Jill (Randall) Kirby, all of Morrisvale; brother, Prentus (Garnet) Estep of Drawdy; sisters-in-law, Aileen Estep of Hurricane, Romaleta Estep of Morrisvale, Lawanda Estep of Danville and Clara Miller and Alice Holeston of Morrisvale; grandchildren, Ricky and Randy Estep, Brian and Craig Adkins, Cynthia Decker, Bobbie Jo McClure, Jason Estep, Krystan Silva and Jordan Kirby; 12 great-grandchildren and one due in February; and a host of friends. The funeral was Wednesday, Jan. 14, at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, with the Rev. Darrell Searls and the Rev. Oshel Bell officiating.
