MADISON – A Madison woman was sentenced to prison Wednesday, April 25, 2012, for violating the terms and conditions of her alternative sentence.

Boone County Circuit Judge Will Thompson sentenced Kristin Nicole Burns, 31, to prison for Child Neglect and Driving Under the Influence (DUI).

Information obtained from the criminal complaint shows that in March 2010, Burns wrecked her car in Uneeda in the early morning hours.

When Deputy S. M. Jarrell arrived on scene, he located Burns in her car.

Upon further investigation, Deputy Jarrell located Burns’ two-year-old daughter in the car.

Burns later tested positive for several controlled substances as well as alcohol.

In May 2011, Burns pled guilty to Child Neglect and Driving Under the Influence.

Following a period of time on an alternative sentence, Burns was revoked Wednesday, April 25, 2012. She was sentenced to prison for up to 5 years.
