Last week, W.Va. American Water Co. donated a 1989 GMC 6000 series 2-ton dump truck to help bring water to the residents of Prenter.

"We're very appreciative to West Virginia American Water for the donation of the truck ... The main goal is to ensure the availability of clean drinking water,"Fred Riggleman, general manager of the Boone County PSD stated.

Riggleman said the truck will be used in the delivery of clean water to the people of Prenter.

Currently, organizers of the Prenter Water Fund project are able to deliver about 400 gallons of water per trip, he said.

With the new dump truck, they should be able to haul about 1,500 gallons at a time. On Jan. 14, Gov. Joe Manchin announced $1.5 million in funding for the Prenter project. Once installed, the new line will supply approximately 150 households with treated drinking water.
