It’s slightly more than a month until the 30th annual Nellis-ARMCO/6th annual Nellis Grade School reunions at the Nellis Elementary School gym on Saturday, June 30, beginning at noon. The Happy Valley Boys will be singing at the Nellis Church/Archives beginning at 10:30. Food will be available. Be sure to mark your calendar for this event.

On Sunday, June 17, Richard Harold will be speaking at the Nellis Wesleyan Church, on Monday, June 18, Herman Maynard will be speaking at Emmons Baptist, on Tuesday, June 19, Charles Hardy will be speaking at the Emmons Church of God, on Wednesday, June 20, Mike Gibson will be speaking at Rumble Community Church, on Thursday, June 21, Brian Sowards will be speaking at the Morning Star House of Prayer in Ridgeview, on Friday, June 22, Cleve Daugherty will be speaking at Dartmont Baptist, on Saturday, June 23, J.R. Mooney will be speaking at Estep Baptist, and on Sunday, June 24, Roger Kratz will be speaking at Rumble Baptist. On June 24 New Salem Sound will be singing at Rumble Baptist.
Congratulations to Ted Bowles Jr. of Grimesland, N.C., who recently was promoted to Probation/Parole Surveillance Officer with the North Carolina Department of Corrections. Ted is the son of Teddy and Libby Bowles of Ashford.
The next Neighborhood Crime Watch meeting for the Ashford, Nellis, Costa and Ridgeview area is set for Tuesday, May 29, at the Nellis Elementary School gym, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Make plans to attend.

Italian Country-Fried Steak
Ingredients:
1 1/2 pounds cubed steak
1/2 cup Italian salad dressing
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 cups spaghetti sauce
Instructions:
Cut cubed steak into individual-sized portions and place in a large bowl. Pour Italian dressing over steak pieces and toss well. Place flour in a plastic bag or dish; add steak pieces and coat well. In a heavy skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat; add steak pieces and fry, turning to brown both sides. Then fry steak for approximately 2 minutes more per side or until a golden-brown crust has formed. Serve with warm spaghetti sauce. Serves 4.
