Reports of bank robbery incident in West Hamlin; search for suspect underway

WEST HAMLIN - Reports are coming in of a bank robbery incident in West Hamlin, according to The Lincoln Journal newspaper in Lincoln County.

The bank robbed is allegedly City National Bank, according to other reports.

The alleged crime happened between 12:30 and 1 p.m., according to scanner reports.

They say someone walked into the bank, showed a weapon, demanded cash, then took off on foot.

Law enforcement officers are attempting to locate a suspect who is said to have fled the scene, described as being 5 feet 6 inches tall. The suspect is said to be of very slim build, wearing a light grey hoodie, blue jeans and a black ski mask. Latest reports suggest the suspect may be driving a "silver Nissan."

A woman was driving the car.

No word if the pair drove towards Huntington or Logan.

No one was hurt in the incident.

The Lincoln Journal reported that schools in the area were on lock down. A Lincoln County Board of Education representative confirmed that Lincoln County High School, Hamlin PK-8, West Hamlin Elementary, Guyan Valley Middle School and the central office in Hamlin were on lock down as of 1:25 p.m., but at 2:55 p.m. it was lifted.
