Welcome back to the Whitesville Area News. I hope you are all busy outdoors getting your flower and vegetable gardens planted. Boone County students are officially finished with the WESTEST. I know the students and teachers alike are glad that it is finally over. It is hard to believe that another school year is coming to an end. The last day of school for all Boone County Students will be on Tuesday May 29th.
Food Distribution—-Sue Pauley, the Director of the Whitesville Catholic Charities has asked me to pass the following along to everyone: The Catholic Charities WV Whitesville/Pettus Food Pantry office hours are Monday thru Wednesday 9-3 Thur. 9-4. (USDA) food for Boone Co. is distributed the first Wednesday of the month from 1pm-3pm at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Whitesville. (USDA) food for Raleigh Co. is distributed the third Thursday and Friday at the Old Pettus Elementary School from 9am-3pm. For more information please contact Sue Pauley at 304-854-1043. Jewell Pauley of Costa celebrated Mothers day with 35 family members and friends to share this special day with her. There were lots of great food and conversation for all. Jewell seemed to enjoy herself very much. God blessed everyone there with a great day.
Sherman High School will hold their graduation on Thursday May 24th at the School. For the first time, the graduation will be held outdoors (weather permitting). Good luck to all of our graduating young men and women. A new chapter of their life begins as they leave behind their high school years.
Whitesville Elementary Students will have a fun day on Monday May 21st. Soundtastics will be there along with outdoor inflatable games for the students to enjoy. Representatives from Alpha Natural Resources a big partner in education with the school also plan to attend.
Sherman High School held their Sports Banquet on Sunday May 20. Awards were given out to students in Baseball, Softball, Boy’s and Girl’s Basketball, Tennis, Cheerleading, and Track. A fellow Sherman High School Graduate, David Henderson, was the guest speaker. We were honored to have Former WV State Board of Education President Delores Cook, and her husband there to support our Sherman High School students as they always do. We also had Boone County Board of Education member Joe Tagliente there to show his support as well.
GET WELL WISHES:
Stanley and Sue Pauley send get well wishes to their sister-in-law Debbie Pauley of Racine. Debbie recently had knee surgery. They hope her recovery is fast one.
Adam Pauley, son of Stanley and Sue Pauley will be returning home May 24th. Adam has been in Austria studying abroad this semester. Adam will also get to meet his nephew Jaxson Glenn Stover for the first time. Stanley, Sue and Adam’s sister Christina are excited that he will soon be home. Adam has had a great time visiting different places and learning about the different cultures in Austria.
