Snow, snow and more snow! Last fall, I had people tell me we would have a “bad winter.” I am convinced! Spring is just around the corner.

Sincere sympathy to the family of Gene Kuhn, of Madison, who passed away Jan. 22 at the age of 80.

Condolences to the family of Edna Carpenter, of Hurricane, who passed away Jan. 28 at the age of 63. Edna was formerly of Ashford and Nellis.

The family of Patsy Turley extend their thanks and appreciation for the kindness shown during the loss of their loved one. The prayers, food, beautiful cards, flowers and phone calls are deeply appreciated and your thoughtfulness always will be remembered.

Congratulations to Jeremy McCormick, of Seth, and Andrea Atkins, of Bloomingrose, who were married Jan. 24 at the Bloomingrose Church of Christ. Andrea is the daughter of Darrell and Kista Atkins. She is the granddaughter of Rachel Laws and the late Jesse Laws, of Nellis.

A special thanks to Gilbert Pauley, of Nellis, for taking the time to clear the snow and ice from the Nellis walking trail. All of the walkers appreciate Gilbert doing this so we can do our daily walking.

Bill Dean, author of "Coal, Steamboats, Timber and Trains," will be at the Historic Nellis Church/Archives on Feb. 7 at 10:30 a.m. Autographed copies of his book will be available. Everyone is invited to come and meet Mr. Dean.
