RACINE – A fire in the Racine area on Ashford-Nellis Road totally destroyed a home, according to Boone County emergency officials.

The fire was reported early Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at about 1:30 a.m., officials reported.

The homeowner was in Florida, officials said, but her husband had come back to live in the home. There is no word if he or anyone was in the house at the time of the blaze.

The home was a total loss and no injuries were reported.

Firefighting units from Racine, Danville and Marmet responded to the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, officials added.
