Tadlock helps Scott extend its winning streak

WEST MADISON – The Scott Lady Skyhawks parlayed 17 assists into a balanced offensive effort, overcoming 21 turnovers and a so-so shooting night to hand the Charleston Catholic Lady Irish a 52-41 defeat here last Monday.

Six points from junior post player Brittani Adkins and one three-pointer from Makenzie White and Jennifer Spry each enabled Scott to grab a 20-7 advantage by the end of the opening stanza.

Charleston Catholic battled back with an 8-6 second-period effort behind four points from Emily Blake, but Coach John Porter’s Lady Skyhawks used 11 second-half points from Kate Tadlock to secure the 52-41 home win.

Tadlock finished with 15 points, six rebounds and three steals. White added 12 points, eight rebounds and five steals.

Ciera Bias contributed 10 points, six assists and five steals. Adkins had a stellar performance in the paint, scoring 10 points, grabbing seven rebounds and blocking seven shots. Spry chipped in five points and three assists.

The Lady Skyhawks netted 19 two-point hoops, a trio of three-pointers and 5-of-9 free throws. Charleston Catholic connected on 16 two-pointers, two three-pointers and 3-of-6 free throws.

Maria Femia led the Lady Irish with 10 points, including two three-pointers. Capen Evans added eight points.

Scott improved to 13-2 and extended its winning streak to nine games. Both losses (to Pikeview and Sissonville) were absorbed in December and on the road.

The Lady Skyhawks will close out the regular season with a five-game home stand. Scott will host Tolsia tonight, Tug Valley on Friday and Chapmanville on Monday before welcoming Sissonville to West Madison next Wednesday in a long-awaited rematch.

After 15 games, White leads Scott in scoring with an 18.1 points per game average. Tadlock is averaging 14.9 points per game. White and Tadlock have each netted 20 three-pointers.

Adkins is the team’s leading rebounder, averaging 9.7 rebounds per game. Adkins also averages 4.3 blocked shots and 9.2 points per contest.

White (5.5) and Bias (5.0) lead the team in assists and are tied for the team lead in steals, averaging 4.1 steals per game. Bias also averages 10.7 points per game.
