Charles E. “Eddie” Ferrell, 61, of Madison died Feb. 2, 2009, at home.

Eddie was a coal miner in West Virginia before moving to Florida where he was employed by the Broward County School Board.

He returned to Boone County in 1996 to operate MegaPower Mining and Industrial — a business venture with his brother — until it closed in 2005.

He enjoyed the outdoors.

He loved to garden and fish. He also had a great love of animals, especially his pet and companion, Spike. He was a member of the Danville First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Ferrell , and his brother and best friend, Harry Lee Ferrell.

He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Ferrell of Ashland, Ky.; mother, Helen Ferrell of Madison; sisters, Francie Workman and Kay Cooke, both of Madison; Amanda's mother, Donna Ferrell, and her children, Gary Tobias and Tara Crawford, all of Beckley. In addition he leaves behind cousins, nieces, nehews, other special family members, and dear old friends.

He was loved by many who knew him through the years and had the peasure of sharing his laughter and good times.

Funeral service was Feb. 8 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, with the Rev. John Barker officiating.

Burial followed in Boone Memorial Park, Madison.
