When Boone County deputies easily captured a man who allegedly robbed a Lincoln County bank they were relieved. What they didn’t expect was that the accused gunman was a Boone resident.

Lincoln County Sheriff Jerry Bowman said a man entered the Community Trust Bank in Alum Creek at around 10 a.m. last Tuesday and reportedly presented the teller with a note demanding money.

Employees reportedly gave the robber $7,000. The man fled to nearby U.S. 119 where he then turned south. What he didn’t know was there were multiple witnesses who saw the accused robber and could identify him.

A be on the lookout went out over police radio bands, which quickly alerted Boone County Sheriff’s Department units on U.S. 119.

Less than 10 minutes after the call went out, a Boone County deputy spotted the described vehicle and he pulled the suspect over on the bridge just south of the Donald R. Kuhn Center, near Julian.

The suspect surrendered without incident. Arrested was Adam Dwayne Ferrell, 32, of Danville. He was transported to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office where they awaited a warrant from Lincoln County authorities.

Several hours later the man was arraigned before Magistrate Porter Snodgrass. When Ferrell was unable to post a $100,000 bond, the magistrate turned him over to a Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy, who transported him to the Western Regional Jail.
