HAMLIN – The Scott Skyhawks visited Hamlin last Tuesday and came away with a 55-44 defeat at the hands of the Lincoln County Panthers.
The loss ended Scott’s regular season and sent the Skyhawks into the Class AA Region Four, Section Two Tournament with a 9-13 record.
Lincoln County led 8-7 after the first quarter, but Scott rallied to even the score at 22-22 at halftime. The hosts used a 20-15 third-period effort to take a five-point lead into the fourth stanza. The Panthers secured the win by posting a 13-7 fourth-quarter advantage.
Lincoln County, a member of the Class AAA Mountain State Athletic Conference, ended its regular season with a 10-12 mark. The Panthers were slated to face Huntington in the Class AAA Region Four, Section Two Tournament, with the winner advancing to face Spring Valley.
Senior guard Jacob Lucas paced the Panthers with 15 points. Senior post player Jacob Ashworth added 10 points. Doug Jeffers and Josh Roberts contributed nine and eight points, respectively.
Senior guard Steven McComas tossed in 15 points for the Skyhawks. Senior guard Carl Shaffer added 13.
Tyler Thompson netted six points. Shayne Butcher and Billy Queen each scored three points. Tyler Ramsey and Chase Woodruff added two points apiece.
