Hello again. It is that busy time of the year when we make the transition from summer to fall and encounter all of the things that go along with it. Fall sports for all of our student athletes are in full swing. We are all faced with the task of what to wear to work or school. When you leave in the morning it is 45 degrees and you come home it is near 80. I enjoy the coming home temperature more than the early morning.

Sherman Tide did some traveling in the last few weeks. First on 13th of September, the girls Volleyball Team traveled to Hannan where they came away with a victory over the Hannan girls volleyball team. Then, the very next day, parents and students again traveled to Hannan as our Football Team played there on the 14th. Congratulations to the Sherman Lady Tide Volleyball Team and to the Sherman Tide Football Team on their victories at Hannan. Both of the teams came away with a win.

The Lady Tide Volley Ball team then had a home stretch where they played Logan and Chapmanville in a Tri-Match on the 18th- beating both of those teams for two wins. The next week started out again at home on the 24th With another Tri- Match. The Lady Tide came away with another pair of wins over the Valley Greyhounds and the Scott Sky Hawks. Congratulations to the Lady Tide Volley Ball Team. The girls are working hard! The girls then traveled to Tug Valley on the 25th. It was a long drive to get there but the Lady Tide again brought home the victory so it was worth it. They finished up the week with a home game against the Clay County Panthers also winning this game. There were a few close calls in some of the matches the girls played. They have won all of the games they have played in the last 2 weeks. How Awesome. Congratulations Lady Tide!!!! Way to go Girls! Everyone appreciates the students coming out in full support. It really means a lot to our student athletes to have the support of their peers and the community. For those that do not or did not know, all high school students who come to the Volley Ball games get in free. There is no reason you can’t come out and support our student athletes.

I would like to say, on behalf of Sherman High Faculty, Students and Parents a great big Thanks You to George Viars. If you come to any activity at the school, then you know that parking in the back of the school on the lot was a guessing game. There were no lines on the pavement, so you just parked wherever and however you could. Thanks to George Viars that is no longer a problem. George paid for and painted the parking spaces on the entire parking lot. We cannot say thank you enough for this. Thank You George and thank you to Codie Viars who helped him out.

Belated Happy Birthday Wishes go to Eddie Weikle of Racine. Eddie celebrated his birthday on September 27, 2012. Happy Birthday Eddie!
