(MCT) KEYSER — Scott’s season ended with a thud Saturday afternoon as Keyser steamrolled the Skyhawks 53-8 in the Class AA playoff quarterfinals.

Blake Ravenscroft had 12 carries for 220 yards and two touchdowns for No. 2-seeded Keyser (10-2), which will host No. 3 Bridgeport in the semifinals next weekend. That’ll be a rematch of the Oct. 19 meeting between the schools, won by Keyser 25-0.

Scott mustered just 118 total yards for the game and had two players ejected in the fourth quarter.

The Golden Tornado wasted little time in getting started, with Danny Fife taking the opening kick 45 yards into Skyhawks territory. Helped by a pair of offside calls against Scott, Keyser opened the scoring with a 21-yard touchdown strike from Cody Eversole to James Flint just 1:20 into the game.

Keyser’s second touchdown came on a “Statue of Liberty” play, in which Eversole faked a handoff then gave the ball to Ravenscroft, who raced 59 yards to paydirt with 5:24 to go in the first quarter.

Amonte Turner’s 17-yard run improved Keyser’s lead to 19-0, and after Scott fumbled the ball away early in the second quarter Ravenscroft scored again, this time on a 31-yard run off a double-handoff.

Later in the first half, Fife lumbered 25 yards to set up a first-and-goal and then scored two plays later from 6 yards out to put the Golden Tornado up 34-0. After another Scott punt, Keyser got another big third-down run from Ravenscroft to set up first down at the Skyhawk 25. Eversole connected with Turner for a 20-yard pass to get a first-and-goal at the 1, and Fife made that last yard up in two plays to give the Tornado a 40-0 lead heading into halftime.

The Skyhawks found success on the ground to open the second half. Robert Bias and Cameron Loftus took turns to get Scott a first down at the Keyser 36, but Cody Brown threw a pass that was batted into the hands of Turner, who intercepted and took the ball to the Skyhawks 37. On third down Fife rumbled 23 yards to set up first-and-goal at the 7, and two plays later scored his third touchdown of the game to give the Tornado a 47-0 lead with 5:07 to go in the third quarter.

The Skyhawks began to boil over in the fourth quarter. On the first play, with Keyser trying to advance, a skirmish resulted in Chris Osbourne’s ejection. Later in the drive, Colton Rodeheaver dragged several Skyhawk defenders across the 10-yard line, sparking a fracas that saw Scott’s Michael Belcher restrained and ejected as well.

Rodeheaver then put one more score on the board for Keyser, a 2-yard run to put the Tornado up 53-0 with 7:06 to go.

Scott finally got on the board on its next possession. Tyler Jude connected with Elijah Price twice to get the Skyhawks across midfield, and a run from Jesse Lackey plus a penalty put them at the Keyser 20.

Two plays later, Jude went 15 yards on a keeper, setting up a 3-yard TD run from Codie Loftus with 2:28 remaining.
