Harlem Superstars coming to Madison
Harlem Superstars will be at the Madison Civic Center on Feb. 6, 2013, at 6 p.m. to showcase their talents and skills. They will be taking on the Boone County All-Stars whose team will be composed of teachers, police officers, firemen, and alumni from Sherman, Scott and Van. Come out and enjoy the show. Ticket prices are $7, if you buy in advance (At Sherman, Nick Cabell and at Scott, Amy Cabell) or at the door $8. Harlem Superstar memorabilia will be available.
The Boone County Association of Retired School Employees (BCARSE) will meet Tuesday, February 12th at Park Avenue Restaurant in Danville at 10:00 a.m. Linda Charles Stone, artist, will be our guest. All retired school employees are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Boone Elementary Basketball Tournament
The Boone County Schools elementary basketball tournament will be held at the Madison Civic Center through Feb. 8. Brookview Elementary will be hosting this year’s tournament. Other area teams include Sherman, Ramage, Madison, Jeffrey Spencer, Van and Wharton. Admission each night is $3 for adults and $2 for students and a variety of items will be sold at the concession stand. Come out and support your favorite team.
There will be a “Pink-out” at the Scott High School basketball tame on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013. T-shirts will be sold for $10, so come out and shoot for the cure.
Notice of meeting
The Boone County Public Service District will hold its regular monthly Water and Wastewater meetings on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at the Board office. If you wish to be on the agenda please call the Board office at 304-369-2622.
The Water Board meeting will open at 6 p.m., prevailing time, followed by the Wastewater meeting at its Board office in room 101 of the Danville Community Center, Hopkins Avenue, Danville, West Virginia, for the following purposes: 1) Water Agenda: Approval of Invoices and Line Extensions. 2) Wastewater Agenda: Approval of Invoices and District Operations.

LINK Child Care Resource and Referral is a program of River Valley Child Development Services and is grant funded through the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources Bureau of Children and Families, Early Care and Education. We serve Boone, Cabell, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, Mingo, Putnam, and Wayne counties by assisting low income families with the cost of child care so they may improve their lives through employment, school and the WV Works program. We also provide consumer education so families can make informed decisions regarding the care and education of their children. Additionally, our agency recruits child care providers, conducts regular training workshops for child care professionals, and provides technical assistance such as behavior consultations and the Traveling Resource and Information Library System (TRAILS).
The Boone County Parks & Recreation Cheerleading Competition is set for Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at the Madison Civic Center. This event is sanctioned by the WVSSAC. If interested in entering your squad, please contact the Parks & Rec. office at 304-369-6125.
Madison Civic Center
The Madison Civic Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, for citizens to use to walk in this winter.
Madison VFW Post 5578 is building a Veteran’s Memorial to honor mothers of veterans and veterans. Purchase a brick for $50. Boone County Democrat Executive Committee
The Boone County Democrat Executive Committee will hold a meeting on Feb. 7, 2013, at 5 p.m. at the annex of the Boone County Courthouse. Chair Sue Ann Zickefoose requests all members please be present.
