Margie Hale, executive director of West Virginia Kids Count, was a recent guest of the Madison Rotary Club, introduced by Rotarian Dr. Ron Stollings. Ms. Hale talked about the latest statistics describing the well being of children in Boone County and West Virginia, focusing mainly during her visit here on the high rate of teen pregnancy in the county, using the 2012 Kids Count data findings. She said the West Virginia Kids Count Fund works to improve the lives of the state’s at-risk children by collecting information about their status, identifying and supporting programs that work, and advocating for public policies that promote early education.
