A young woman accused of being a member of a three-person burglary team accused of stealing from homes all over Boone County returned to Boone County Circuit Court on Thursday to face justice.

Heather Morris, along with Chelsea Dolan, and Jerry Messer II, were indicted last year on multiple counts of burglary and other charges.

Late last year Dolan and Morris returned to court and entered into plea agreements on felony charges. Messer is currently in negotiations with prosecutors to enter into his own plea agreement.

After a long hearing, Morris was sentenced by Judge Will Thompson, to five years probation. The young woman will be monitored by the home confinement office and was ordered by Thompson to live with her parents during the period of her probation.

He also made it a condition of her parole that she have absolutely no contact whatsoever with her co-defendants. Morris was arrested early last month after she was caught at Messer’s home, hiding in his bedroom closet.

Morris will also become a client of the Boone County Drug Court. Thompson made it clear that if the young woman violates conditions of her parole in any way he will be forced to send her to the State Prison for Women, at Lakin.

Chelsea Dolan’s sentencing was postponed until late May, so the young woman could finish her current term of college.

The judge pointed out that Dolan had passed every drug screening administered to her since her guilty plea late last year.

Jerry Messer is expected to plead guilty to at least some of the counts against him in the next two weeks.

Defense attorney Pete Hendricks has been working with the Boone County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office to reach an agreement that can satisfy Messer, the court and his victims.

Drugs in Boone County as well as surrounding counties are a big problem. Your ridiculous reference to "Johnny Law" shows how uninformed you are. The law enforcement in Boone County does an excellent job in hunting down drug offenders, but the judicial system never seems to be able to close the door shut on the majority of offenders.

Those same offenders end of being repeat arrests and do nothing but take up additional time and resources from an already strapped Sheriff's office and State Trooper detachment.

Get your facts straight before you make ignorant, uninformed comments about serious social issues.
