Raven James Dotson, 60, of Charleston, was arrested April 5 for a third-offense DUI.

According to the criminal complaint filed in the magistrate court of Boone County, officers were dispatched to the Racine area of Boone County for a report of a domestic situation between Dotson and a woman.

Upon pulling into the parking lot of the Racine Market to speak to the woman, Cpl. J. A. Weagel, of the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, noticed Dotson driving a burgundy 1992 Mercury Sable on Route 3, according to the complaint.

Officer Weagel stopped Dotson on Racine Hill to speak with him regarding the allegations and when the officer checked Dotson’s status through the DMV, found that his license was revoked for DUI.

According to the criminal complaint, Dotson has had a conviction of driving revoked for DUI beginning in March 1999, again in May of 1999, and on September 10, 2000 and September 26, 2000.

Weagel is being held at the Southwestern Regional Jail on a $40,000 surety, or $4,000 cash bail.

If indicted and convicted of the charges, Dotson faces one to three years in prison and a fine not less than $3,000 and not more than $5,000.
