On April 10, at approximately 9 p.m., Senior Trooper D.R.White, of the West Virginia State Police Whitesville Detatchment, served a search warrant on the residence of Rockie Harkless on Coal River Road, in Sylvester, according to the complaint.
Once inside the residence, the officer discovered a large amount of what appeared to be marijuana and hydrcodone, zanex, kalanapun and other prescription medications without prescription bottles, according to the complaint.
Harkless told the officer that he was in a lot of pain and snorted the pills, though he sometimes sold marijuana to pay bills, he claimed that he did not sell any of the pills, according to court documents.
Harkless was arrested and a $20,000 surety, or $2,000 cash bail was set by Magistrate Chuck Byrnside.
If indicted on the charges and found guilty, Harkless could face up to 15 years in jail and/or a fine up to $25,000 on the charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. On the charge of possession, Harkless could face up to 6 months in jail and/or a fine up to $100.
