The Aracoma Story Incorporated has announced Bill France as director for the 2009 Season of “The Aracoma Story - Spirits & Legends.“ France is a veteran of the Aracoma Story stage, he was the youngest actor to ever portray Boling Baker, a role he would repeat several times. He directed “Dracula” at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College. He has also been seen on stage at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College and at Marshall University. Other roles that he has assumed, include Chief Logan in “The Aracoma Story,” The Scarecrow in “The Wizard Of Oz,” Perchik in “Fiddler on the Roof,” The Oompa King in “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” Frank Butler in “Annie Get Your Gun,” Wild Bill Hickock in “Calamity Jane,” the Herald in “Cinderella,” Pharaoh in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” Harry the Horse,“ in Guys and Dolls and Abner in “Lil Abner.” France has also been seen in the roles of Danny in “Baby,” Kenickie in “Grease,” and the Dentist in “Little Shop of Horrors.”

France recently took his comprehensive exam at West Virginia University for his Master’s degree in Communication Theory and will graduate in May. He received his undergraduate degree at Marshall University, where he studied theatre and journalism. Currently, France is employed at WVOW radio. However, you might also recognize his name from his mobile DJ operation. He has been providing entertainment for dances, parties, wedding receptions, birthdays, reunions, corporate events and anniversaries for the past 19 years. DJ Bill France is a household name in southern West Virginia and eastern Kentucky.

France has made several changes to the longest running outdoor drama in West Virginia. He has given The Aracoma Story a subtitle. It is now called “The Aracoma Story: Spirits and Legends.” France has taken on the challenge of “reinventing” the script for the legendary tale of the ill-fated love of Princess Aracoma and the white man, Boling Baker. The word to describe the changes France has made to the script is “revitalized”. He assures everyone that the original story is intact and the historical aspects are still there. However, France said he just wanted to breathe new life into this classic tale. He says that if you’ve ever seen the show, or even if you haven’t you will be taken on a ride every night with the help of his cast and crew. “You’ve never seen the show presented this way!” he promises, “This is the year to check it out!”

France says that people will not only want to see the show, but they will want to be on stage to help make this story come alive! He has an ongoing recruiting campaign to get people involved. There are roles for small children, teenagers, adults, and ever senior citizens. He, also, needs two infants to round out his cast. Predominately males are needed to fill the stage. There are speaking and non-speaking roles. France says there have even been a few new roles added to the script.
