Cecil Wayne Dunfee, 21, of Hernshaw, was arrested April 29 on charges of second-degree arson, according to a criminal complaint filed in the Magistrate Court of Boone County.
According to the complaint, Dunfee allegedly set fire to a quarter-million dollar piece of mining equipment.
Sgt. Perdue, of the West Virginia State Police, alleges in the complaint that on April 29, Dunfee, along with one other male and two females, traveled up Left Hand Fork in the Nellis area, arriving upon a reclamation site operated by Eastern Arrow Corporation.
At this time, Dunfee allegedly placed a rag into some diesel fuel, lit the rag and placed it into a dozer, burning the dozer, according to the complaint.
The Eastern Arrow Corp. advised officers that the dozer was a $250,000 loss, according to court documents.
Dunfee is currently being held at the Southwestern Regional Jail on a $100,000 surety, or $10,000 cash bail. If indicted and found guilty of the charges, he could face up to 10 years in jail.
