According to the complaint, Deputy J. R. Dalton, of the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a request for assistance by Deputy E.C. Eversole, on a burglary complaint at Robinson on May 27.
While on the scene, the officers received a 911-call to a breaking and entering to an outbuilding where three bicycles and three bottles of liquor were stolen, according to the complaint.
A witness told officers that he saw a bicycle lying beside the road at the top of Robinson Lane, according to court documents.
Officer Dalton was able to recover one of the bicycles belonging to the victim and, according to the complaint, Cook confessed to the crime after speaking with Officer Dalton.
Cook is also charged with nighttime burglary and petit larceny, according to a separate complaint filed in the Magistrate Court of Boone County.
According to this complaint, filed by Deputy E.C. Eversole, Cook entered a vacant residence at Robinson, where he stole two necklaces, one ring and a cane.
Cook is being held on two bonds. The first is a $20,000 surety, or $2,000 cash bail for breaking and entering; the second is a $40,000 surety, or $4,000 cash bail for the nighttime burglary and petit larceny, according to court documents.
Cook has a prior petit larceny arrest dated Feb. 26, 2009, according to court documents.
If indicted and found guilty of the charges, Cook could face up to 25 years in jail, according to court documents.
