As the lazy days of summer stretch into the end of July, a lineup of local family entertainment still awaits the Boone County area.

In the town of Whitesville, organizers are working towards another successful Big Coal River Fest, slated for July 29 through August 1. There will be great fun and music for all ages. For further information about this festival, call 304-854-1224.

Another activity area families are sure to want to attend is this year’s Boone County Fair. Before there were State Fairs, many counties all throughout the United States would have their own county fairs and festivals, where communities would gather together to celebrate their uniqueness and celebrate their friendships.

This year’s Boone County Fair is scheduled to begin August 4 and run through August 9. The 6-day event will be held at Lick Creek Fairgrounds, at Danville. For information about this event, call 369-2338 or 245-8113.
