This Saturday, August 15, beginning at noon, folks will gather at the B.B. Johnston shelter at Racine Park for the 13th annual Brush Creek Grade School Reunion. Former students, teachers, cooks and others affiliated with the school are invited to join us for an afternoon with friends and former classmates. Bring a covered dish. Deli meat trays, soft drinks and eating utensils will be provided.

Mr and Mrs Mitchell Totten of Racine are pleased to announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Mary Kathryn Totten, to Adam Dewayne Aldridge. Mary is currently attending college and Adam is employed at Pro Soft Engineering in Quantico, Va. After a cruise to the Bahamas in November, the couple will reside in Fredericksburg, Va.

Congratulations to Sarah Drain and Christopher Bodnar of Toledo, Ohio who were married July 25 at St Stephens Church in Toledo. Sarah is the granddaughter of Maggie Gunnoe, also of Toledo.

Correction: In the birth announcement last week of Matthew Isiah Marcum, son of B.J. and Rebecca Marcum of Costa, Matthew’s great-grandparents were incorrectly indentified. It should have read: the late Perchie and Vernie Smith.

Bob and Shirley Harless of Hernshaw celebrate their 57th wedding anniversary August 15. They are the parents of one son and two daughters.

TRAVELING/VISITING

The Dew family reunion was held Saturday, August 1, at the home of Jerry and Jean Graley in Emmons. Attending were the three surviving children of the late Bill and Daisy Dew of Hernshaw, Wanda Gay Postelwait, “Dink” Knapp and Bill Dew; and the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including the children of the late Fred and Virginia Dew McComas of the B.A.R.N. area.

Marceline Woodrum and daughter Linda Kolb spent the day last Tuesday at the home of John and Sue Baire in Bandytown. The ladies made 21 quarts of pickled corn, which I hear Linda likes very much. The ladies enjoyed spending the day together.

Get well wishes to Dave and Judy Michael of Kanawha City who were involved in an auto accident a few days ago. Both are now recuperating at home.
