An Ottawa resident faces a possible prison term of up to ten years after admitting guilt in a burglary.

Last week, Kyle Bruce Jarrell, 24, entered a guilty plea on charges of nighttime burglary in Boone County Circuit Court. The admission was in connection with an August 13, 2009 break-in at the Jones Branch home of Lloyd Myers.

Police reports stated that Jarrell stole $2,000, a 32 caliber revolver and a set of car keys. While there, Jarrell cut his hand on a broken window, leaving behind a trail of blood. Law enforcement spoke to Jarrell the next day, who denied committing the crime.

Jarrell’s father told police that he gave the young man a ride to Jones Branch the previous day. Law enforcement later recovered the handgun from Jarrell’s residence. During a recent grand jury session Jarrell was indicted on charges of nighttime burglary, grand larceny and felony conspiracy in connection with that crime. Jarrell’s recent guilty plea to nighttime burglary and felony conspiracy means the man could face a prison sentence of not less than one, no more than ten years imprisonment and up to a $2,500 fine.
