One of the three men implicated in the 2008 death of a Prenter Road resident has entered a guilty plea. A feud between Leslie Long, 51, Maxell Long, and David Jarrell ended with a shootout on February 28th of that year. When a group of Boone County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrived on the scene they found lying dead in his yard and Leslie Long and David Jarrell suffering from severe gunshot wounds.

The shootout at the Sycamore Road mobile home park resulted from a feud between the Longs and Jarrell. The Longs had planned to lay in wait for Jarrell and attack him. What they didn’t know was that Jarrell was aware of the impending attack and brought a gun along to defend himself. In the end, the one man lay dead and two others were wounded.

Eventually Leslie Long and Jarrell faced a five-count indictment and another man faced charges for helping set up the assault. The initial intended victim, David Jarrell, died earlier this year from an unrelated illness.

Last week Leslie Long was back before Boone County Circuit Judge Will Thompson, who accepted a guilty plea to one count of malicious assault, which is a felony. When Long returns for sentencing at a later date, he faces a prison sentence of 2-10 years.
