Louise Green, 61, of Bim passed away Friday, Dec. 25, at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston.
Born May 8, 1948, she was a daughter of the late Emerson and Verlie Workman Richmond. She was also preceded in death by a son, Brian; and son-in-law, Jason Moore.
She is survived by her husband, Dewayne; two daughters, Rebecca Elkins of James Creek and Kristi Green of Uneeda; two sons, Michael and Nicholas, both of Uneeda; one sister, Loretta White of Twilight; one brother, Danny Richmond of Bim; grandchildren, Kristian Workman, Katlyn Green, Brennan Moore, Zackary Green, Gabrielle Green, Brady Green, Aiden Green, Kearstyn Green, Kerigan Elkins, BriAnn Green, Elliot Gibson, JoAnna Green and Nathan Green.
Services were held Dec. 29, at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, with Darrell Searls officiating. Burial followed at Green Cemetery, Bim.
Gary N. Daniels
Gary N. Daniels, 76, of Comfort died Dec. 19, 2009. Funeral services were held on Dec. 26 at Pineview Cemetery, Orgas. Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, is in charge of arrangements.
Norval E. Asbury
Norval E. Asbury, 79, formerly of Montcoal, died Dec. 19, 2009. Funeral services were held on Dec. 23 at Dry Creek Baptist Church, Cry Creek. Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, is in charge of arrangements.
Melvin E. “Gene” Beard
Melvin E. “Gene” Beard, 74, of Twilight went home to be with his Heavenly Father Dec. 23, 2009, at home after a very long battle with cancer and lung disease.
He was the most wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to so many people and will be sadly missed. He was a member of Freedie FWB Church, Van. He was a retired coal miner form Eastern Associated Coal with 38 years of service and was a member of UMWA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Elbert and Kathleen Beard; brothers, Paul, James, Jerry and Pete; sisters, Mary and Emma Jean; and first wife, Dollie.

grandsons, Jamie Beard and wife, Andrea, of Danville, Michael Beard and wife, Miranda, of Gordon and Jeffery Beard of Alum Creek; special step-grandsons, Jacob Chandler of Clayton, N.C., and Andrew Beard of Grand Haven, Mich.; step-granddaughters, Kateri Stuffer of Ludington, Mich., Sierra and Julianna Beard of North Dakota and PaPaws’s very special step-granddaughter, who he called his little buddy, Sydney Chandler of Clayton, N.C.; two special great-granddaughters, Makahia Beard of Gordon and Kambri Beard of Danville; brother, Joe Beard and wife, Bessie, of Mammoth; sisters, Maggie Cook of Beckley, Mae Cook and
husband, Clarence, of Robinson, Debbie Linville and husband, Mike, of Peytona; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services were held on Dec. 28 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, with Pastor Steve Burns officiating. Burial followed at Memory Gardens, Madison.

James Browning, 82, of Camp Creek, Julian, died Dec. 17, 2009. Funeral services were held on Dec. 22 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville. Burial followed at Danville Memorial Park, Danville.
Glenna Holsten Atha
Glenna Holsten Atha, 82, of Van, Boone County, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, in Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, with her family by her side, after a short bout with cancer.
Born Jan. 3, 1927, in Cazy, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Mirla Brown Holsten. Mrs. Atha was also preceded in death by her brother, Lester Holsten; sister, Hester Holsten Atkins; and son-in-law, Troy Lee Lovejoy.
Glenna is survived by her
husband of 59 years, Joseph Atha of Van; son, Allen “Joe” and wife, Pam, of Van; daughters, Glenda “Sissy” and companion, Butch, of Robinson and Bonita “Tink” of Danville; sister, Flavie Linville of Van; grandchildren, Melissa Lovejoy and companion, Jason, of St. Albans, Katie Atha of Park City, Utah, and Christopher Atha of Van; great-grandchild, Terrell Lovejoy; special grandchildren, Chris Sharp and Sherea Dooley Conley; stepgreat-grandchildren, Bethani and Donald, both of St. Albans; and a host of loving friends and extended family.
Funeral services were held on Dec. 26 at Stevens Funeral Home, Madison, with Henry Harvey officiating. Burial
followed at Memory Gardens, near Madison.
