Bowman leads Sherman past Buffalo

SETH — The Sherman Lady Tide improved to 3-4 after splitting its four games last week.

Sherman started the week with a 50-45 victory over Buffalo last Monday.

The Lady Tide led 10-8 after the first quarter but fell behind 22-19 at halftime. A 17-11 scoring advantage gave the visiting

Boone County team a 36-33 lead after the third quarter.

Senior forward Madison Bowman scored a team-high 17 points for Sherman. Senior guards Megan Williams and Crystal Halstead followed with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Sophomore guard Skylar Pauley netted four points. Senior forward Taylor Dodrill and sophomore forward Emily Donohue each scored two points. Senior guard Jessica Hudson and freshman guard Brittany Brewer added one point apiece.

Sherman suffered a 72-32 setback against visiting Herbert Hoover on Saturday.

The Lady Tide trailed 7-5 after the first quarter, 35-9 at halftime and 48-25 after the third quarter.

Bowman had a team-high eight points for Sherman, which had no double-digit scorers.

Halstead, Pauley and freshman guard Taylor Hendricks finished with four points. Freshman guard Mackenzie Smith followed with three points.

Megan Williams, Dodrill and Donohue added two points apiece. Sophomore guard Kelsey Williams scored one point.

Sherman ended the week with a 51-41 victory over visiting Independence on Saturday.

The Lady Tide fell behind 15-6 after the first quarter, 27-22 at halftime and 37-35 after the third quarter, but the Boone County team used a 16-4 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter to rally for the victory over its Raleigh County opponent.

Bowman led Sherman with 19 points. Hudson and Megan Williams netted nine points apiece.

Halstead finished with six points. Dodrill and Pauley followed with four points apiece.

Sherman also suffered a 61-31 setback against visiting Poca on Wednesday, but statistics were unavailable for that game.

Sherman was scheduled to visit Tug Valley on Tuesday. Results from that game were unavailable for this week’s issue but will be published in next week’s issue.

Sherman will host Clay County on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and visit Burch on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
