In a battle of two highly-ranked teams, the Scott added another win to there record, as they breezed past Charleston Catholic.
The Lady Skyhawks held the Irish to only one run in the second inning, opposite to that the Skyhawks’ offense was showing that it belongs to be one of the best teams in Class AA.
Charleston Catholic just couldn’t seem to maintain the Scott’s offense as they scored 10 runs in seven innings.
Scott relied on the arm of Jennifer Miller as she only allowed four hits and struck out eight.
Allyson Johnson doubled twice in the game also driving in a run. Katie Wooten went 2-for-3 adding an RBI. Katrina Conley would also added an RBI for the Class AA No. 2 Lady Skyhawks.
Scott traveled to Milton on Friday to begin the Sluggerfest Softball Tournament. The Lady Skyhawks opened the tournament, looking as if they were expecting to dominate everyone they play, starting with Morgantown.
Scott opened the game with a 3-run first inning, after a base hit from Ciera Bias, who later scored on a Hannah Griffith single. Allyson Johnson’s home run blast cleared the bases and edged the Scott over Morgantown 3-0.
The Lady Skyhawks’ offense went wild in the third inning, scoring eight runs and taking total control of the game.
Allyson Johnson led Scott going 2-for-3 at the plate, adding a home run and three RBI. Chelsea Calloway, Hannah Griffith, and Kelsey Leadman each rounded out the offensive stats with two hits and an RBI each. Scott pitcher Katie Wooten received the win.
The Logan Wildcats powered over the Skyhawks in their second game of the Sluggerfest Softball Tournament.
Scott scored two runs in the first inning, taking the lead following base hits by Ciera Bias and Hannah Griffith, who would eventually be brought home with a sacrifice fly by Kelsey Leadman and an RBI base hit from Abby Boyce.
The Skyhawks would soon get into trouble as Logan’s Jessica Bias, blasted two home runs.
The first coming in the first inning followed by a two-run shot in the third inning.
Scott had trouble getting their base runners to cross home plate as they left seven base runners stranded. The Wildcats squeezed past Scott with a 5-2 victory.
The Lady Skyhawks started the second day of the Sluggerfest Softball Tournament just as they did the first, with a convincing victory.
Scottís Jennifer Miller started the contest, and after getting injured, the Bison of Buffalo scored three runs.
Those three runs are all they would get as Scott’s Katie Wooten came into the game and took over. She didn’t allow any hits or runs, shutting down the Bison for the rest of the game.
Scott scored several times during the game, to secure the13-3 win. Allyson Johnson led the Skyhawks, going 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run and three RBI.
Scott dropped its last game of the weekend tournament 7-6 to the Chapmanville Tigers.
A close game all throughout the contest until the extra eighth inning, when Chapmanville’s Jenna Evans rocked a home run off Scott’s injured freshman pitcher Jennifer Miller.
Miller suffered a shoulder injury earlier in the tournament.
Kelsey Leadman led the Skyhawks going 1-for-3 at the plate racking up 3 RBI. Ashely Townsley also contributed going 1-for-3 with an RBI.
