The Lady Tide traveled to play their familiar foe the Chapmanville Tigers. The previous time these two teams matched up, the Tigers were ranked #6 in class AA and the Tide came into the game with the #8 ranking. Sherman walked away with a 3-2 home victory and could be there biggest win of the season so far.
This time the Tide had to travel to Chapmanville to take on the Tigers. Chapmanville started roaring early and often. The Tide just couldn’t seem to find enough rhythm to tame the Tigers. The Tide scored 4 runs in the contest but gave up 7.
Every time these two teams get together it is always a hard fight, neither want to go home with the loss. That particular time it was the Tiger’s turn to limp away with the win.
Sherman put that loss behind then quickly as the following day, they hosted the Van Bulldogs. Van just couldn’t hold on to the powerful and let Sherman cruise to a 11-0 shut out victory.
Sherman put three pitchers on the mound for relief early and often, each combined for only three hits in five innings of softball. Senior Megan Williams led the Lady Tide going 3-4 at the plate.
Senior captain Madison Bowman and Freshman Mackenzie Smith both landed a double to round out the offensive performances.
Sherman continued to roll on a three game road trip, traveling to Poca for the first. Poca’s 10 errors lead to a 9-3 Tide victory. Sherman boosted a whopping 13 hits in the game, as Madison Bowman lead the way three hits and a RBI. Senior Jessica Hudson went 2-5 during the contest while Freshman Mackenzie Smith also went 2-5 running out two doubles.
The Lady Tide hit a bump in the road on there three game road trip, loosing 3-2 to Clay County Friday. Although Abby Smith struck out 10 for the Panthers the Tide scored 2 runs in the 5th inning to take a 2-0 lead and look forward to winning the game. The panthers responded in the 6th inning with 3 runs of there own to win the game 3-2.
Senior Brittany May was on the mound for the Tide as well as being there to offensive performer delivering a double.
Sherman ended the weekend with a win over the Class AAA Riverside Warriors. The Tide opened the game with a three run 1st inning. That was followed up by a Riverside four run 2nd inning.
With the game tied at 5 run apiece, the Tide scored three runs in the final 7th inning, due to three Warrior errors. Sherman’s Brittany May went 3-4, while Mackenzie Smith continued to swing a hot bat, accounting for a triple and brining in two RBI’s improving the Lady Tide record to 10-14.
