Woman admints role in Racine home burglary

MADISON — A Boone County woman admitted to her role in the Burglary of a Racine home.

Claudia Sheets, 27, of Racine pled guilty in Boone County Circuit Court to the criminal offense of Conspiracy to Commit Burglary.

In July, Deputy J. P. Dent, of the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, received a call from a man claiming that he awoke to a knock at his door. The man told Dent that he had lost power to his home, but he was able to recognize Sheets at his door.

When he opened the door, a masked male struck the man in the head with a club and robbed him. Dent ultimately arrested Sheets and her male accomplice following his investigation.

Sheets will be sentenced on October 30th. She faces 1 – 5 years in prison when sentenced.

Man admits to selling drugs

A Boone County man admitted to selling drugs.

Eric Dale Aleshire, 42, of Hewett, pled guilty to selling cocaine and hydrocodone in Boone County Circuit Court.

He was arrested following an investigation by Deputy R. B. Dotson and the U.S. 119 Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force.

In December 2010 and January 2011, Deputy Dotson led an investigation into drug activity involving Aleshire.

Deputy Dotson was able to purchase drugs from Aleshire using a police informant.

On one occasion, Aleshire sold the informant .28 grams of Cocaine for $50.

On another occasion, Aleshire sold the informant 5 hydrocodone for $40.

Aleshire was ultimately arrested and indicted by a Boone County grand jury.

Following his guilty plea, Aleshire was placed on probation for up to 36 months.

If he violates his probation, Aleshire faces 1-15 years in prison.

Bias Branch man headed to prison

A Boone County man is headed to prison after violating his probation.

Scotty Lee Davis, 33, of Bias Branch, admitted in Boone County Circuit Court to violating the terms of his probation.

Davis was on probation following his guilty plea to Child Neglect Creating a Risk of Injury in June 2011.

Davis was arrested in November 2010 by Deputy E. C. Eversole following a 911 call about. When Deputy Eversole arrived at Davis’s home, he found Davis unconscious on the couch with a one month old baby.

After Deputy Eversole awoke Davis, he found Davis to be under the influence of prescription pills. Davis was speaking with slurred speech and had a white residue in his nose.

According to the complaint, Davis admitted to snorting a few pills earlier in the evening.

Following his admission, Davis was sentenced to prison for 1-5 years.

Seth man headed to prison for his part in copper theft

A Boone County man is headed to prison for his part in a copper theft ring.

Jerry Nelson Adkins, Jr., 31, of Seth, pled guilty to Grand Larceny in Boone County Circuit Court.

During his plea hearing, Nelson admitted to his role in stealing 400 feet of high line cable from Black Castle Mines near Andrew.

After receiving a 911 call in June 2011, Trooper J. R. Brewer of the West Virginia State Police met with a representative of Black Castle who estimated that over $15,000 worth of copper cable was stolen from the mines.

Tpr. Brewer later caught up with Adkins who admitted to trespassing on mine property, cutting the copper and hauling it to Route 3 Recycling in Seth.

Following his guilty plea in Circuit Court, Adkins was ordered to prison for 1-10 years.
