Scott golf team wins regionals, heading to States again

The Scott golfers have enjoyed a really good season. The golfers are 82-24-1 with huge wins over George Washington, Poca, and Charleston Catholic. All 3 schools have been real strong in their respective classes in recent years.

The Scott golfers won their first Cardinal Conference title and Region IV and is headed to the States again. The Hawks were paced by Alex Boggs with a 75, Aaron Grant a 78, Sterling Chafin a 79, and Chad Honeycutt with an 81. All 4 golfers earned All-Conference honors. Matt Dolan had an 88. Dolan earned All-Conference honors last year as a junior.

Scott has been led by 3 seniors Alex Boggs, Matt Dolan, and Chad Honeycutt. They have enjoyed great careers since joining the team that freshman years.

Sterling Chafin, a junior, has been a very solid player this year. Chafin should be a real good player next year.

Aaron Grant, a sophomore, has really improved his game through a lot of hard work. Grant should also enjoy a good season next year.

Nick Dolan, a freshman, has had a good season and has shown steady improvement.

Every player has made a good contribution the team this fall.

The Hawks traveled to Big Bend this past Monday to play in the Region IV golf tournament.

Scott edged the Poca Dots out by 1 shot to win the regionals. Boggs led the Hawks with a 75, followed by Chafin with a 76, Honeycutt a 79, and Grant a 82.

The Hawks are looking forward to playing in the States at Oglebay. The boys have practiced very hard and played in several Invitationals that has prepared them for the States. The boys have a good shot at winning the whole thing if they can maintain their steady play.
