Phillip Akers, 78, of Murray, died Friday, May 18, 2012 at Western Baptist Hospital.
Born July 5, 1933 in Hewett, WV. He was a member of Poplar Spring Baptist Church and a retired business owner of Phil and Sons in Chicago, IL.
Survivors include his wife, Imogene Perkins Akers, of Murray, whom he married on July 26, 1952 in Logan County, WV; three sons, Phillip E. Akers and wife Eleanor of Morris, IL; Michael Akers and wife Cathy of Lake in the Hills, IL; Brian Akers and wife Anne of Rolling Meadows, IL; one daughter, Joyce Akers Whitney and husband David of Murray, KY. Five brothers, two sisters, nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Baxter Davis Akers and Nessell Wallen Akers and one son, Ronnie Dale Akers.
Funeral Services were held at 11:00am on Monday, May 21, 2012, at Imes – Miller Funeral Home. Bro. Rob Ison will officiate. Burial followed in Barnett Cemetery.
