MADISON – The Boone County Commission approved a recommendation by their towing committee to add Hannah’s Paint, Body & Towing to their roster of approved towing service providers within county borders during a regular session on Oct. 20.
Hannah’s, with a Whitesville mailing address and a facility that sits at the border of Raleigh County applied for consideration for a revised policy but according to county officials, their application sent via email was overlooked in error.
On Oct. 20, Boone County Emergency Management/911 Director Michael Mayhorn, who serves on the committee with Commissioner Brett Kuhn and Administrator Pam White approached the commission with the recommendation and an assigned territory pending approval.
“There was an error on our part,” Mahorn said. “The Application by Hannah’s Towing was inadvertently missed. We met last Tuesday to consider that application.”
Commissioners unanimously approved the recommendation for Hannah’s Paint, Body & Towing bringing the approved wrecker services to five including; Breedlove’s Wrecker Service, Roger’s Wrecker Service, Hawks’ Towing and Repair and Big M Towing and Recovery.
In reference to their approved territory, Hannah’s will absorb the area "from the Whitesville Volunteer Fire Department down through Fosterville to the curve at Kirby through Seng Creek to the county line."
The Commission acknowledged the error and took swift action.
“I want to apologize to you (Hannah’s) on the record for the oversight,” said Commission President Eddie Hendricks. “We did not intend to leave you guys out at all. I’ll take responsibility for that and I’m sorry that this happened to you.”
Hannah’s has been in business since 1989 and was started by Mike Hannah, who still works as a driver among other duties for the business. The business represents the only approved towing companies without a facility within Boone County.
