Phil Perry/Coal Valley News The Boone County Courthouse will enter a "by appointment only" status at 8 a.m. on Aug. 4.

MADISON – According to a statement released by the Boone County Commission, the Boone County Courthouse will adopt an “appointment only" status as of the start of the business day on Aug 4 and will close at 4 p.m. on Aug 3.

By order of Boone County Commission President Eddie Hendricks, the statement said that “Due to the increasing amount of COVID-19 cases and out of an abundance of caution for our citizens and the county and state employees, the Boone County Courthouse will be closing to the public on Aug 3 and operating by appointment only beginning at 8 a.m. on Aug. 4.

The “state of emergency” that the county entered in March is still in effect through the Boone County Emergency Operations Plan, Continuity of Operations Plan and the Emergency Operations Center.
