LONG BRANCH – An escaped murder suspect was captured by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office in Long Branch on July 28 at approximately 7:50 p.m. after a multi-agency manhunt was in motion in Danville and the surrounding areas that afternoon.
West Virginia State Troopers along with the Sheriff’s Office were searching for Dominick Joseph McClung, 18, a murder suspect who escaped in the Danville area.
According to investigators, McClung was an inmate at Donald R Kuhn Juvenile Detention Center on a murder charge out of Wood County.
Officials say that the escape occurred during a transport to/from a hospital for medical reasons when the vehicle that McClung was transported in stopped for gasoline at Go Mart in Danville.
Investigators say that the vehicle and personnel were associated with the detention center.
McClung was 17 when he was arrested in the death of Karen Yeager, 68 of Parkersburg last fall.
Prior to his capture, the Magistrate Court of Boone County had issued a warrant for arrest for Felony Escape. As of Monday morning, McClung was held at the Southwestern Regional Jail on a cash-only $250,000 bond.
